One of the core Mission goals of our Lord Jesus Christ is visit to prisons to proclaim freedom to the prisoners without neglecting to care for their physical wellbeing (Matthew 25:35; Luke 4:18b).

IBC has adopted Ikoyi Prison as one of her Mission Fields to fulfil this mandate of our Lord among the inmates and the officials. Here, we have the privilege of reaching out to an average of 500 inmates weekly through Spirit-filled worship experience and discipleship training, using the Nigerian Baptist Convention Discipleship Training Manuals namely, The Christian Basic Discipleship (Six Lessons) and Follow the Master. Several lives have been affected and transformed through this labour, and this is anchored by a group of our ever committed and passionate Volunteer Prison Workers ably supported by all our Pastors and Diaconate members who join to lead the Worship Service. Both the worship and discipleship training hold in the Chapel of the prison which was built by IBC some years ago. This Chapel is also available for other Protestant Churches/Fellowships that visit the Prison.

Also, we see to the physical wellbeing of the inmates and their officers by providing bread, toiletries and drugs such as anti-malaria, pain relief, antibiotics, and multivitamins to their clinic regularly. In addition to this, as a way of promoting their healthy condition through hygienic environment, we fumigate all their prison cells once every quarter. Through our advocacy program, we provide free legal representation for the inmates. Through this, several of them have been able to secure their release from the prison and are further assisted to be properly integrated back into the society.
